Hometown Restaurant in Fairbanks

We enjoy our visits to Hometown Staff is friendly and you always get large portions. Best omelettes in town. My one complaint is they are not only closed on Sunday but close early on Mondays and recently even other days.

Decent food. Very large portions. A little dated, and when its busier they definetly need more staff. But worth a trip.

Very good breakfast, good portions, and reasonably priced. I had the breakfast platter(2 eggs, hash browns, toast) with reindeer sausage. It tasted fresh, not greasy, very good flavor. The young lady that took our order was very friendly.

This place is so much nicer than I had expected! The service was top notch here with such a happy and welcoming staff and the chicken fried steak was probably the best i have had in Fairbanks. Not a bad choice for a morning bite or a lunch option if you are in the area!

Good service and food was as described. I took a friend there because it is her favorite restaurant. Unfortunately for me, not many vegetarian options. It was $50 for 3 people, but portions are very large! So much I couldn't finish mine... I probably won't go again unless I'm taking her because there aren't many things for a vegetarian, and the prices are a bit high for me. I'd say it's a great place for meat lovers who want big portions!

As soon as you walk in and see a swordfish on the wall, a whole group of army officers laughing it up in a booth nearby, and the waitresses breaking out the true Southern accents, you understand why it's called the "Hometown" Restaurant: it takes the "home" from the classic Southern feel and carries it up here to the frozen tundra of the winter. Good food, excellent service, closes around four, and it doesn't murder your wallet in its' sleep. That sounds like good old Southern hospitality to me.

Quite a great place for breakfast. Excellent food, large portions, friendly staff... Quite surprising honestly, based on the only criticism of having really outdated appearance which is greatly outweighed by the great things I listed above. 👍👍

We arrived first thing at 6 a.m. Waitress was prompt and helpful. Garden omelette was outstanding! Superior Coffee brand very good. Great breakfast place.

I was told about Saturday special of Chicken Fried Steak breakfast, so decided to give it a try. Portion size was very good and quality/taste was excellent. Restaurant was clean and service fast with food being hot. Just so everyone knows the chicken fried steak is not chicken but beef. Different than like at Cracker Barrel where you get chicken breast.

Your typical diner style reatruant, been in a few times now food is always got and fresh. Portions are good and staff is friendly. Couldn't find something on the menu that made them stand out other than they have a lot to choose from.

Way better than any other restaurant in Fairbanks

Their pancakes, country fried steaks, skillets and biscuits and gravy are a must try. Hometown staff provided quick and friendly service. We'll be back.

Truthfully, They use the best oil to cook with!! I have never tasted the "greasy spoon" sicko type hash browns etc at HOMETOWN!!! I chated with owner years ago...why other restaurants have burnt oil taste on their food. She said it has been our motto to spend extra money and continue to replace oil instead of using the same old oil for extended amounts of time! So there you have it. Food is constantly awesome ...breakfast is our favorite morning or afternoon: Chicken fried steak extra over easy eggs or Denver Omelet or Raindeer sausage omelet too....Besr biscuits and gravy. Hawaiian burger and Ruben are best sandwiches in my husband and my opinion. The BEST COFFEE TOO! We eat there once or twice a week. Awesome servers too. Owners are the best cooks too!

The food is simple but the flavors are amazing. Flaky crust and quality ingredients. Go for the sides and you won’t be disappointed. It’s surprisingly filling. The owners are very friendly and engage all of their customers. Great service every time. I love that you can also take food for later. We’ll be back again!
